WoW: Burning Crusade Classic - Smooth launch despite DDOS attack

Last night, the Dark Portal opened at the stroke of midnight, marking the official launch of WoW: Burning Crusade Classic. And just like the original launch, many players came to the Desolate Lands late at night to celebrate the launch and hunt for experience points.

Despite the large number of players in the zone, the transition to the TBC Classic era was surprisingly smooth. Many players report that they were able to visit dungeons and complete quests for several hours without any problems. This is certainly thanks to the layering that Blizzard uses to distribute players across multiple versions of the game world, just as they did in WoW (buy now €14.99 ) Classic. On the server of the author of these lines, for example, seven layers were active in parallel.

Smooth launch, despite DDOS attack

The smooth launch is especially noteworthy when we throw a Twitter post from the Blizzard developers into the ring. Apparently, there was a DDOS attack last night that caused high latency and disconnections at times.

DDoS attacks usually involve using a number of hacked computers and targeting a server to overload it with requests, which ends up causing problems for players. Because it involves a large network of different computers in different locations, it takes a while to catch the culprit.
