WoW: Finally! Patch 9.1 nerfs the Melee Killer affix in Mythic Plus dungeons

By their very nature, some affixes in WoW's Mythic-Plus dungeons are more popular than others. But few have drawn as much hate and anger since the system's inception as the Stormy affix. Which is not entirely true. Ranged players often look forward to Stormy Weeks, as they are barely affected by the whirlwinds flying around. Melees, on the other hand, are just running and have to dodge the whirlwinds all the time and hardly have time for anything else - except swearing loudly.

But that should be a thing of the past with patch 9.1, at least partially. Because the developers of Blizzard miss the Affix Stormy a whole series of nerfs that take him at least partially the horror. They are slower, more predictable, do less damage and hit fewer targets in the upcoming patch.

The following nerfs affect the whirlwinds of the Stormy affix:

  • The whirlwinds now move much more slowly
  • The whirlwinds seem to move clockwise only
  • The whirlwinds disappear as soon as they hit a player
  • The whirlwinds cause less damage (12 instead of 15 percent health)

This makes it much easier for melee fighters (and tanks, of course) to dodge them. And healers will be happy, too, because they won't have to heal as much - and not just because of the reduced damage. Single whirls will no longer be able to catch half the party at once.

All in all, the affix remains significantly more annoying for melee fighters than for ranged fighters, but loses a lot of its awfulness and is unlikely to stop a Melee from running Mythic-Plus dungeons in the weeks in question in the future.

At the same time, the Necrotic

affix will be removed. Enemies will now only apply it with every other melee attack, This means it stacks up half as fast, which should please tanks and healers.Support buffed - it only takes a minute. Thanks!
